A woman from Lakeland and St. Petersburg man was killed in an I-275 crash that happened around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers say a 51-year-old Clearwater man looked down at his phone and failed to see stopped traffic in front of him on I-275 at the exit ramp for Veterans.
The Clearwater man was driving a pickup truck that slammed into a car, killing the driver and her passenger.
Troopers said six cars were involved in the crash, with multiple people sustaining minor injuries.
