Worker Dead After Parking Garage Stairwell Collapse in Clearwater

On Monday, December 20, 2021, a staircase collapsed in a Clearwater parking garage. A 23-year-old male is reported deceased because of the collapse. At the time of the collapse, the stairwell was being repaired by workers when a portion of the stairwell collapsed, trapping one worker. Crews worked through the night Tuesday and pulled the victim’s body from the rubble Wednesday morning.

Clearwater Police department is investigating the incident.
