
On Monday, June 13, a woman accidentally crashed into a daycare, injuring five people in Clearwater.
The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. while parents were in line to pick up their kids at the Building Blocks at Clearwater daycare on Lakeview Road near South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
A 57-year-old woman pulled into the daycare parking lot to pick up a family member when somebody ran out in front of her pickup truck. The woman attempted to brake but accidentally hit the accelerator and launched forward.
The 57-year-old woman struck three young children, their 32-year-old mother, and a teacher at the daycare. They all went to the hospital and are doing fine. The kids are 2, 3, and 5 years old.
The driver was treated at a local hospital. She also received a ticket for careless driving.
The daycare building sustained damage, and city workers will visit the daycare facility for further examination.
