Answer: I was recently retained by a client. His sister, unfortunately, died when her vehicle was struck by a truck for a plumbing company. The brother said to me, my sister wasn’t married. She didn’t have any children, but she was the only sister I had. Is there anything we can do about it?

The answer is yes; there is justice. Typically, it’s a spouse or a child who will bring the action as the personal representative for the deceased family member, but it can also be a parent, a brother, or a sister, or any relative who wants to pursue justice on behalf of their loved one that they lost.
The goal, of course, is to find any survivor of this loss and make sure that they have compensation. Now, Florida law restricts who qualifies as a survivor, but every life counts in this state.
