Do Doctors Lose Their License?

Do doctors lose their license after a medical malpractice lawsuit? Watch this video to find out more information.

Question:
Will a doctor lose his or her license after a medical malpractice lawsuit?

Answer:
When you file a claim for medical malpractice against a doctor, many people want to know if a doctor will lose their license. Typically when a client asks me that question, they are reluctant to even speak to a lawyer because they don’t want to do anything that’s going to hurt their doctor. That’s great. but what’s really the focus for us and our client is what’s good for them and their family.

Typically what happens to a physician’s license is covered under administrative rules and procedures that have nothing to do any claim that could be made for medical malpractice. There could be scenarios where a doctor has had issues a number of times and it filters into the administrative sphere and could then potentially affect their license, but that is very rare. I encourage my clients to be focused on what’s good for them, and to let us investigate the claim.
