How is a disputed claim resolved in a chapter 11 bankruptcy?

Answer:
Once in a while, a client will ask, “How is a disputed claim resolved in a Chapter 11?” As in all chapters, creditors have the opportunity to file claims. Then the debtor has the opportunity to object to those claims, and ultimately a court will hear evidence to determine what the claim is, whether it’s a valid claim, and whether it’s a secured, unsecured or a priority unsecured claim. Those classifications determine payment and ultimate treatment of those claims in a Chapter 11 case.
