There are several categories of debts that are not dischargeable in bankruptcy. The most typical debt that a client may have when they come to me is maybe they owe student loans. Some are dischargeable, but most are not. Maybe they owe the IRS; certain tax liabilities are not dischargeable. Maybe they owe child support or alimony; that’s an example of other debt that may not be dischargeable. There are other categories of debt, but the best way to figure it out is to sit down at a free consultation.
