One person died, and two are badly injured after a U.S. 19 car crash at the intersection of Happy Days Drive on Friday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a media release.
An 18-year-old Weeki Wachee woman was driving a sport-utility vehicle east on Happy Days Drive with a 67-year-old female passenger. She stopped at the intersection of U.S. 19 at about 5:15 p.m. The woman turned left onto U.S. Highway 19, didn’t see a sedan heading south, and the sedan crashed into the left side of her car.
The 67-year-old woman later died from her injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the SUV and the sedan driver, a 25-year old Crystal River man, both suffered life-threatening injuries.
