Largo, FL (May 3, 2020) – A Tampa woman charged with DUI manslaughter is also facing felony charges of child neglect and vehicular homicide after a wrong-way crash that killed one person and left two children injured in Largo early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at 2:15 AM on U.S. 19 N near 66th Street N.
Largo police had received calls that a 2014 Nissan Murano was traveling south in the northbound lanes. Law enforcement tried to pull the driver over but were unable to do so before the Nissan Murano crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle. The front-seat passenger of the other vehicle was killed. A child who was in the backseat sustained injuries.
The driver of the Murano was found unconscious after the crash. She was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Her child—who was in the backseat of the Murano the whole time—was also taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The Tampa woman was charged with DUI manslaughter after two open containers of Truly Hard Seltzer were found in the vehicle. Her BAC was .202.
