Valrico, FL (May 10, 2020) – An early-morning crash in Valrico has injured six people, including 2 deputies. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office suspects that drunk driving played a factor in the incident. The crash occurred just before 2 AM on Sunday morning on Highway 60 near Church Street.
According to the HCSO, two DUI investigators were parked in a median on Highway 60 when a vehicle collided head-on with the unmarked sheriff’s cruisers. The 25-year-old driver of the vehicle told the officers that he had fallen asleep at the wheel, but the deputies suspect that alcohol was involved. Both deputies, the driver of the vehicle, and three passengers were transported to hospitals in the area. Everyone is expected to make a full recovery. There have not been any charges filed yet.
