Sarasota Man Died Crossing Whitfield Avenue

A Sarasota man died from a pickup truck while trying to cross Whitfield Avenue, said the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened after 7 p.m. Monday at Whitfield and Tuttle avenues.

Troopers say the 89-year-old man attempted to cross Whitfield Avenue when a 24-year-old Sarasota man in a pickup truck hit him.

The man died from his injuries following the crash, according to the FHP.
