
A laborer is dead after a Port Tampa Bay construction accident occurred on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
A construction worker was helping clear an area for a forklift driver carrying two bundles of lumber. While operating the forklift, the driver hit the brakes, and the bundles of lumber rolled off the forklift. The first bundle hit the worker, while the second bundle rolled over and crushed him.
The man went to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the scene and accident.
