Motorcycle Crash Leaves Tampa Driver Dead

A Tampa Bay man died in a motorcycle crash on Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The motorcycle crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday, on U.S. 41 near 10th Avenue South. Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist, 53, was driving southbound on the inside lane when he suddenly lost control of the bike.

He and a passenger, a 51-year-old Tampa woman, were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither the driver nor passenger were wearing a helmet, troopers reported.

It is still unclear why the driver lost control. No names of the victims are available currently.
