An I-275 car accident claimed the lives of two teens in St. Petersburg early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on February 8 at approximately 6 AM.

The 18-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry tried to change lanes while driving northbound on Interstate 275 to get to the exit ramp at 22^nd Avenue North. Authorities say that the passenger side of the vehicle collided with a pickup truck, causing the Toyota Camry to go off the roadway and strike two trees.

The vehicle was carrying two other passengers. The victims, who were not wearing seatbelts, were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where they were both pronounced dead. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident was alcohol-related. It is still under investigation.
