
A Gainesville woman was struck and killed by a motorist in an SUV while crossing the 1600 block of St. Petersburg’s Central Avenue early Sunday morning.
Meghan Prettyman, 34, was hit by a Chevrolet SUV, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Prettyman was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and later pronounced deceased.
The SUV was traveling westbound on Central Avenue. The driver showed no signs of impairment, police said.
The roadway was closed early this morning during the investigation but has since reopened for use.
