Question:
How long will my chapter 13 bankruptcy case take?
Answer:
When I meet with a client who’s considering Chapter 13, one of the questions that often comes up is how long it will take. A Chapter 13 entails a monthly payment plan, and it typically lasts for 60 months. If the debtor’s income is below a certain threshold, their plan can go as short as 36 months or three years. You are typically looking at 60 months or five years, and it requires that the debtor commit their disposable income toward the payment of a Chapter 13 case to satisfy unsecured creditors.
