Bradenton Bicyclist Injured after Hit-and-Run

BRADENTON, FL – A search is underway to find the driver of a vehicle that hit a Bradenton bicyclist and sent them into a ditch before fleeing the scene late Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a driver traveling east on Mendoza Road, east of Ridgewood Boulevard, hit a Bradenton bicyclist. The rider, a 40-year-old woman, ended up in a ditch on the side of the road, troopers say.

Officials say the bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction. A crash report described the vehicle as a sedan but did not include a make or model.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477.
