Tampa Boy Faces Vehicular Homicide in Fatal Crash

A 15-year-old Tampa Bay boy faces a vehicular homicide charge for a car crash that killed a 44-year-old woman in Plant City, Florida.

Calvin Sandford stole a Nissan Frontier and fled from an attempted traffic stop in Tampa March 12, 2022.

During the police chase, officers pursued Sanford to the intersection of Turkey Creek and Trapnell roads, according to authorities. The three passengers inside the Honda went to an area hospital.

Calvin Sanford was arrested on unrelated charges Thursday and booked into a Hillsborough County Jail. The vehicular homicide charge, and additional charges are likely, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

An agency spokesperson said Calvin Sanford will be charged as an adult. There are no charges filed against the other three juveniles.
