Laura Simon

Trial Counsel

Laura Simon is a dedicated trial attorney whose career has been defined by compassion, public service, and an unwavering commitment to justice. With experience spanning public defense, prosecution, and insurance defense, Laura brings a rare, comprehensive perspective to her advocacy for individuals harmed by the negligence or misconduct of others. Her work reflects a deep belief in protecting the vulnerable and holding powerful institutions accountable.

Laura earned her Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law, where she distinguished herself through extensive public service and was awarded the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award. During her studies, she gained invaluable experience through internships with several governmental agencies, including the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., working in the Violent Crimes and Narcotics Trafficking Division. These early experiences strengthened her resolve to pursue a career centered on meaningful advocacy.

She began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and later in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. As lead trial counsel, Laura built an exceptional record of results, representing clients in high stakes cases and safeguarding their rights inside and outside the courtroom. She continued her public service as an Assistant State Attorney in Hillsborough County, prosecuting individuals who violated the law and further refining her courtroom instincts and trial strategy.

Before joining Perenich Law, Laura gained critical insight into the insurance industry by defending claims for major carriers. Witnessing firsthand the tactics used to deny or diminish the claims of injured individuals—and the lack of good faith negotiation on behalf of policyholders—solidified her decision to shift her practice. Motivated by a deep empathy for the injured, she joined Perenich Law to fight for those who need a strong and principled advocate.

Laura is admitted to practice in Florida and Virginia, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida. She remains active in the legal community through her involvement with The Florida Bar Leadership Academy Committee (Sections VI and V), the Florida Justice Association, the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Pinellas County Chapter. Her work has earned her recognition as one of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for 2025, a distinction awarded through rigorous peer review.

Beyond her legal practice, Laura is committed to strengthening her community and supporting education. She volunteers with Lawyers for Literacy and serves as a Guardian ad Litem for the Sixth Judicial Circuit.

Each year, she presents at Great American Teach In events throughout Pinellas County and has been invited as a guest speaker on civil rights at Saint Leo University and the University of Tampa. Her service reflects the values that guide her work—compassion, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to justice.
